Making deals are what makes development happen. Deals have to be made for all kinds of development such as single family, multi-family, and retail. In many classes we worked on Investment Committee packages, and land books, which are the visualization to make a deal happen. Whether it be presenting to a potential private equity investor or presenting to your investment committee to purchase lots in a community structuring your deals is critical to success in the industry. Being able to present our final capstone project to an industry professional, while nerve racking, gave me a crystal-clear picture on things I could have improved on in a real-life presentation. His critiques and questions that he asked about the presentation helped me understand the concerns that my investment committee or potential private investors may have in the future.
